Dr Vargas received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University in 1994. In 1996 she established her AAHA accredited Orchid Springs Animal Hospital in Winter Haven, FL.
In 2009 she completed her certification in Reconnective energy healing and started her studies at Chi Institute, eventually garnering certifications in Acupuncture, Food therapy and Tui Na Massage. Currently she is enrolled in an Herbology course. She is also a certified veterinary journalist and member of the Veterinary News Network. She has published hundreds of articles including her ongoing Lakeland Ledger Pet care column and her quarterly Woman to Woman pet article. Her love of writing is manifested in her blogging about being a mom-entrepeneur for Banker's Healthcare Blog. In addition she co-authored the book "Soul of Success" with NY times best seller Jack Canfield.

Dr. Vargas has served as an AVMA Spokesperson for the Hispanic market and has recorded several PSA's for their website. Dr Vargas is a TCVM consultant for Disney Animal kingdom and a Laboratory Instructor for the Acupuncture program at Chi Institute.

Dr Vargas has earned many awards including Purina National Pet Care Award, Bay News 9 Everyday and Medical Hero Awards, Winter Haven Chamber Business Award, Brighthouse Regional Business Award, Girls Inc "She knows where she is going award" and twice the FVMA Gold award. She was named America's Favorite Veterinarian 2015 by the American Veterinary medical foundation.
She has multiple TV appearances on local channels and loves public speaking. Her notable speaker appearances include the AVMA convention in 2011 and the TCVM Annual Conference in 2015.

In her free time she loves reading, traveling and spending time with her family which includes; two daughters, a husband, two pugs, one cat, one pet rooster, one gecko, one bird and a ferret.
