AAVA 2012 Fall Equine Meeting
Location – Lexington, KY, at the Kentucky Horse Park.
- The meeting and wet lab will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park, home of the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games. Besides visiting the horse park itself, this is the opening weekend for horse racing at Keeneland. A trip to the races is a great way to top off your weekend!
Date – Sat. October 6th, 2012
- The meeting will be all day Saturday and include a wet lab.
Time
- 8:00AM to 12:00, 12:30 to 2:00PM – Lecture
- 2:00PM to 4:00PM – Lab
Program -Â
- Clinical Applications of Acupuncture in the Treatment of Horses:
- Dr. Kevin May will be the keynote speaker and Wet Lab lead instructor along with Dr Chris Cahill as the associate instructor in the lab.
- Dr. May is a graduate of Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine. He is an equine ambulatory practitioner whose practice has a special emphasis on equine performance medicine, lameness, dentistry, acupuncture and chiropractic. He is a Charter Member, Founding Member and past president of AAVA.
- The presentations will emphasize the every day clinical applications of acupuncture in the treatment of horses.
- The topics will include reproduction, sore backs, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) /Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS), Gold beads and other implants, Traditional, trans-positional and non-meridian points – discussion of some discrepancies between books/authors who try to make points the same – show that they are different and talk about their uses.
CE Credit:
- 7.5 Hours (IVAS and AAVA)
Cost:
- The cost for the event is $150 per person. Attendance will be limited to the first 35 attendees.
