In order to achieve the mission and best serve the members AAVA will concentrate on six priorities through 2015:

III. Unification of Veterinary Acupuncture Associations – Enhance collaboration and
understanding to achieve mutual interests and goals.
- A. Programs of Mutual Value
B. Summit of Acupuncture Associations – Convene a summit of the three associations (2012 or 2103).
C. Leadership – Remain positioned for opportunities that arise amongst the associations.
IV. AVMA House of Delegates – Providing a “voice” for veterinary acupuncturists by establishing a seat on the House of Delegates.
- A. Focus on increasing membership and AVMA members.
B. Complete the AVMA formal application process. (2012)
C. Amend AAVA bylaws to prepare to have mechanism for appointing delegate and alternate delegate.
V. Specialty Recognition by AVMA – Establishing diplomate status.
- A. Acquire requirements for recognition from AVMA Board of Veterinary Specialties.
B. Compare and contrast requirements for fellowship and diplomate. (2011-2012)
C. Create a plan of progress to achieve recognition upon completion of above strategies.
VI. Academy Structure – Maintaining an effective Academy with adequate resources and a powerful leadership.
- A. Committee Development – Create a working committee process (standing and ad hoc.)
B. Financial Stability – Improve revenue streams to generate adequate income (i.e. advertising, endorsements, education, grant applications, etc.)
C. Technology–Identify software and technology to be a leading-edge association and reduce costs by using web-based applications (i.e. Constant Contact, Affiniscape, You-Send-It, listserv software, on-line registration, board portal, social media, etc.)
D. Professional Management Staff – Maintain professional staffing to administer the Academy.
E. Strategic Plan
